While people in the Ottawa Valley will be dealing with frigid temperatures in late January, one local football player will be sweating under the Texas sun.
White Lake’s Carter Wilson will be competing for Canada’s Under-18 National Team against Team USA on January 30th at AT&T Stadium – the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys – looking to give the Canadian team their second win in two years in this international competition.
Wilson, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound defensive lineman, is a former Arnprior Redmen who most recently played with the Myers Riders and the Ontario Football League’s Ottawa Sooners.
As a 17-year-old in a league dominated by players in their early to mid 20s, Wilson was named the league’s top defensive lineman this past season and was a first-team all-star. He will be heading to Texas is mid January.
Carter is the son of Rod and Dawn Wilson of White Lake.
