Today residents across the Ottawa Valley continue to dig themselves out from under the season’s biggest dump of snow that brought with it more than 40 centimetres of the white stuff in some areas.

Area municipalities are asking that people be patient as roads crews continue to work around the clock in an effort to clear main roads and side streets.

It will be days before most roads are cleared, including residential streets in towns across the region.

Hardest hit was the City of Ottawa with a record snowfall of 51 cm, grinding the city to a halt with buses and traffic coming to a virtual standstill at times.

School buses were cancelled in Ottawa today, but were back up and running in Renfrew County.
