Mississippi Lake and Dalhousie Lake have dangerous levels of blue-green algae blooms in shallow areas, which could be toxic to people, especially the elderly and the very young. Pets and livestock should also be kept from accessing the water.
The algae blooms are common in the region this time of year, but there is no timeline on how long they’ll last. Windy weather typically helps to break up the blooms.
