1 medium turnip
1 tbsp. butter (1st amount)
1 ½ C pared, sliced apples
¼ C brown sugar (1st amount)
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. butter (2nd amount)
1/3 C brown sugar (2nd amount)
1/3 C flour
½ tsp. salt
Cook the turnip in salted boiling water until tender. Drain and mash well with 1 tbsp. butter (1st amount). Spread half of the turnip in the bottom of a baking dish. Combine the apples, brown sugar (1st amount) and cinnamon and spread over the turnips. Repeat the layers. Mix together the 2nd amounts of butter & brown sugar, salt and flour and mix until crumbly. Sprinkle over the top of the mixture. Bake at 400°F for about 35 minutes.
