1 C soft butter

1 ½ C icing sugar

1 egg

1 tsp. vanilla

2 ½ C flour

1 tsp. baking soda

1 tsp. cream of tartar

White sugar

Cream the butter, icing sugar, egg & vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda and cream of tartar and stir into the creamed mixture.  Roll the dough on a lightly floured surface and cut into desired shapes.  Sprinkle the tops with sugar.  Bake on parchment lined sheets at 350°F for about 8 minutes or until lightly browned.
