Shoplifting, impaired charges laid

Shoplifting in the Upper Ottawa Valley area was on the upswing last week, with Christmas just around the corner. Police were called to Wal-Mart on Pembroke Street East in Laurentian Valley Township on two separate occasions, with a complaint coming in December 9th and another on the 10th. On the 10th police charged a female youth with shoplifting. Two days later, the OPP responded to a call at the mall in the east end of Pembroke and a female youth was identified as the shoplifting suspect. The investigation is continuing.

 

RIDE PROGRAM IN FULL SWING

On December 8th police conducted a check of a vehicle on Highway 41 in Laurentian Valley Twp.  As a result, an adult female from Petawawa has been charged with care or control of a motor vehicle while impaired and care or control of a motor vehicle with a BAC over 80mg contrary to the Criminal Code.  The OPP want to remind motorists not to drink or drug and drive. This year’s festive RIDE campaign is already underway in our area and this year police will be looking for drivers who are impaired by alcohol and drugs.
