A Renfrew woman has turned $3 into $50,000 as she won the top prize after scratching an Instant Crossword ticket.

Nineteen-year-old Kelsey Lambert said she was out with friends and as she started to scratch the ticket, she knew she was going to hit the jackpot. But she wasn’t sure just how much until she had the ticket officially checked.

She said she remained fairly calm, but her friends were jumping up and down screaming. As for what she’s going to do with her winnings, the teenager said she is going shopping for clothes, then maybe catch a Raptors game and then put the rest away to help pay for schooling.

Lambert bought the winning ticket at the Mac’s convenience store on Raglan Street in Renfrew.

As a sidenote, the Mac’s on Raglan Street seems to be the place to buy tickets lately, as Anne Clemen of Burnstown bought her ticket there in February and won $100,000 on Encore in a Lotto Max Draw.
