RAISIN TEA BISCUITS

½ C raisins

3 tbsp. hot water

3 C flour

2 tbsp. white sugar

1 tbsp. baking powder

½ tsp. salt

¾ C butter

1 C milk

Soak the raisins in hot water for 5 minutes and drain off excess water and set aside.  Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt together.  Cut in the butter with a pastry blender.  Stir in the milk and mix just until the dough comes together.  Add the raisins.  Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface.  Knead gently and roll out with a floured rolling pin & cut into rounds.  Place biscuits onto a parchment lined baking sheet.  Bake at 375°F for 15 – 18 minutes.
