1 cup of butter
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp hot water
1/2 tsp salt
3 cups all purpose flour
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate clips
1 cup of chopped walnuts
Make sure your butter is softened and eggs are room temperature. Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees F. Beat butter, white sugar, and brown sugar with an electric mixer in a large bowl until smooth. Beat in eggs one at a time. Stir in vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour, chocolate clips, and walnuts. Drop spoonfuls of dough two inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake in the pre-heated oven until edges are nicely browned, about 10 minutes. Cool on baking sheets briefly before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
