
According to the OPP, for the seventh straight year distracted driving deaths on provincial roadways will eclipse drunk driving fatalities.
Police are saying that in 12 of 51 fatal collisions this year, the drivers were distracted. Breaking it down even more, in five of those collisions the distracted driver died, and in three of the cases it was a pedestrian who was struck and killed.
The OPP continue to clamp down on distracted driving, as they will be launching another blitz this weekend with the campaign continuing through March Break.
