The OPP is reminding us that with school being out, there are more kids and youth on the roads and sidewalks, both day and night.
Drivers should be aware of young people playing close to sidewalks and roads. Police also suggest that parents remind their kids to make eye contact before they step off a curb; remind them to walk, not run across the street; and teach them to cross at intersections and marked crosswalks.
Motorists should also be mindful of the increase in bike traffic, and parents should ensure that kids are wearing a helmet and are following the rules of the road.
The OPP says roads can be made safer for all if we all work together.
