An aircraft has crashed in the dense bush of Algonquin Park about 20 kilometres south of Whitney.

Last night around 8:30, an aircraft contacted the Toronto Area Control Centre and told them there was an emergency.

Shortly after, communication was lost.

A Griffin Helicopter and a Hercules Aircraft from the military base in Trenton were launched, and they found the distress beacon from the missing aircraft.

The OPP were called in to assist with the search, and two men, the pilot and the passenger, were found dead at the crash scene.

‎The cause of the crash and the deaths of the two adult men are under investigation.

Their identities will not be released until the next of kin are notified.

If anyone has information about this crash, they are asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
