Police are reminding people to be aware of a number of scams that are circulating, either by mail, phone, e-mail, websites, or fraudsters knocking at your door.
The OPP are telling residents to be wary of anyone asking for cash, credit card or banking information, or your Social Insurance Number.
Simply put, these people are trying to steal your money or trick you into parting with it.
If you have been scammed, or feel you have been targeted, you should report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. They will help provide information and will work with police if there are suspects.
You can visit them online here or call them at 1-888-495-8501.
