Operation Christmas Bake will be back again this year…and they’re looking for names to add to their “Nice” list.  Pembroke resident Melody McLaughlin came up with the idea of baking and delivering holiday treats to those in need 5 years ago. Its all about spreading joy to people who are a little down on their luck…as McLaughlin and her 30-plus-member team of volunteers began baking in mid-November. The platters they deliver normally consist of butter tarts…some yummy cookies, brownies and other Christmas goodies. In year one…they made deliveries to almost 100 people around the Petawawa and Pembroke area. Since then, they’ve expanded… with the 2016 Operation Christmas Bake delivering to 257 recipients across the Ottawa Valley. They delivered to people in Westmeath, Cobden, Eganville, Beachburg, Pembroke, Renfrew, Petawawa and are now looking to add even more names to their list. If you know someone in need who would be cheered up by getting a lovely Christmas platter call 613-635-1491 or visit their facebook at Operation Christmas Bake. – AC
