Peacefully, on August 11, 2018, James (Jim) Harold William Long at the age of 62 passed away in Ottawa’s Elizabeth Bruyère Hospital. Son of the late Alfred and late Florence Long (Mosher). Brother of Pamela Findlay (John) of Barrie,  Brian Long (Patricia) of Ottawa and Susan Yach (Ron) of Shawville. Jim is lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews and his friends Lisa Bell, Frank Kovalyk and Morgan Adams.  He is also fondly remembered by his many friends in the Ottawa Valley whom he met working for Valley Heritage Radio and as President of the Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall of Fame.

A celebration of Jim’s life will take place in October 2018 at a date and place to be determined.

Jim’s family want to particularly thank Jim’s other family, the Valley Heritage Radio’s Board of Directors, staff and volunteers for all the support Jim and his family received during this difficult time.

Jim may be gone but his passion for country music lives forever in his heart.

This was such a shock for me. Condolences to Jim’s family. Jim was a very special person, when I spoke to my children they all said he was such a sweet man. We were all very fortunate to have met him many moons ago.
You will be deeply missed by all if us Jim.

Jim will surely be missed by one and all. He did an awful lot for Valley Heritage Radio than folks know. When the Celebration Of Life is held, if I can be of any assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask. I’d be very grateful to be included.

My sympathies to Jim’s family and friends, and all who knew him.

    Best regards,

    Rick Leben

To: Pam, Sue, Brian and your families. My family and I send our deepest, heart-felt condolences to each and every one of you. How well I remember you all living right next door. Jim was our first babysitter for Lou and Vicky and Pam, you were our second one. So, yes, many years have gone by but right now it doesn’t seem so long ago. You all have a treasure chest full of memories. Enjoy recalling those memories because when you do, your hearts will feel much lighter. Hugs and loving thoughts at this most difficult time. Sharon, Lou and Vicky.
