The Renfrew OPP says several complaints were received from residents regarding attempted frauds, including someone pretending to be from a collection agency. The fraudster told the person that they owed a business money and another victim reported being scammed by someone claiming to represent an aluminium company. Renfrew OPP remind you to do your research before hiring or trusting someone especially with your money . Get recommendations from friends or family of reputable businesses and never give out personal information like account numbers … or your SIN number … over the phone … or through email … and always confirm the source of the call. The 13th Annual World Paddling Film Festival – takes place at the Almonte Old Town Hall on Sunday October 28th at 3:00pm – it’s an international film tour and they’ll be presenting the world’s best paddling films including kayaking and canoeing…the event is aa fundraiser for the Almonte Riverwalk Project. Organizer Mary Lumsden of Mill Street Books – says that will appeal to many in the community and beyond….and they expect to attract paddlers and outdoor enthusiasts for a fun afternoon. Just a reminder that Valley Heritage Radio … along with community partners … is organizing a fundraising dance to help those hit hardest by the recent tornadoes in the Ottawa Valley.
