Lanark county OPP continue their investigation of Monday’s robbery at the LCBO store in the village of Lanark. The Lanark OPP say that two males entered the store just after noon demanding money. They are believed to have left the scene on foot. No one was injured during the robbery. Sacred Heart Catholic School and Maple Grove Public School went into ‘Hold and Secure’ mode for precautionary measures without incident. An update will be issued from police when more information becomes available. Police urge anyone who was in the area at the time of the robbery or anyone with information regarding the persons involved to please call the Lanark OPP or Crime Stoppers.


Due to a small fire in a storage room at Bishop Smith Catholic High School in Pembroke on Sunday night the school will remain closed through Thursday. While damage was isolated to a second floor/Grade 8 wing the Board is ensuring air quality samples are taken in all other areas of the building prior to staff and students returning on site. For updates and further information students and parents are asked to check the Bishop Smith website and Facebook page.


No people or animals were injured in a barn fire yesterday near Pakenham but officials say more than a thousand bales of hay and the barn were lost in the blaze. Firefighters responded to the call just before 2:30 Monday afternoon on Dominion Springs Road near the Kinburn Side Road. Crews from Ottawa, Mississippi Mills, Almonte and Pakenham were called to the scene. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.


On Saturday morning Killaloe OPP officers executed a search warrant at a home on Quadeville Road  and seized 150 marijuana plants. Two people are now facing production charges and have also been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. The investigation is ongoing.


AND IN SPORTS …

The date has been set for the title game in the Greater Ottawa Fastball League. The Micksburg Twins host West Carleton Electric on Friday night in the championship game in a match-up of the top two teams in the league.  Game time is 8 o’clock.  Micksburg is trying to repeat as champions and add another title after winning twice in the past four years. West Carleton is looking for their first title and have been finalists twice before. Admission to the game is free.

Two local teams are in action tonight in the CCHL-2 as the Arnprior Packers are on the road to face the Ottawa Canadians and the Carleton Place Junior Canadians are in Char-Lan to take on the Rebels. We’ll have the results on tomorrow’s newscast.
