As a result of a police search last week a Pembroke man is facing a number of drug-related charges. On October 20th the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP along with the Community Street Crime Unit and Emergency Response Team executed a warrant seizing drugs, drug paraphernalia and cash. A 27-year-old man was arrested and changed with possession of cocaine and marijuana for the purpose of trafficking possession charges for weed and hash and three counts of breach of probation. He was held in custody until a court appearance in Pembroke.


The Renfrew OPP along with the Pembroke/Renfrew Crime Stoppers are looking for help from the public to solve a theft in Greater Madawaska Township. Sometime between October 1st and 4th an outboard motor was stolen off a boat parked on the property of a seasonal residence on Chimo Road. The motor is a 2000 model year 15-horsepower, 4-stroke Mercury that is black and red. The serial number of the stolen outboard is O-T-1-6-9-0-3-4. If you have any information on this theft you are asked to call police or Crime Stoppers. Your info may qualify you for a cash reward.

The Carleton Place Canadians lead the CCHL standings this year and are the fifth-ranked Jr A team in the country and goaltending has played a big role in the early-season success. Jeremie Forget has backstopped the Canadians to first place and he leads the league in wins with 12 and also leads in save percentage goals against average and is tied for the lead in shutouts with 2. And he also had a 190-minute shutout streak in early October. Now the 20-year-old Masouche, Quebec native has committed to play for Princeton University in the NCAA (N-C-double-A) next season.
