An investigation is underway by the Killaloe OPP after a hunter discovered human remains in the Township of Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards. Police were called to the Ruby Road area on Monday morning just before 11 a.m. and officers from Killaloe … along with the Renfrew County Crime Unit … Forensic Identification Services Unit and the Emergency Response Unit continue to investigate. The remains will be sent to the coroner for analysis. If you have any information about this incident, you are asked to call police. We’ll bring you more details as they become available.


One person is dead following a collision yesterday morning near Arnprior. Few details are being released at this point but police have confirmed that one man was killed and another person taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries … after a crash between an SUV and a pick-up truck near the intersection of Galetta Side Road and Upper Dwyer Hill Road. Reports indicate the collision happened around 10 a.m. on November 6th. No names have been released.


Arnprior and Renfrew officers investigated 11 domestic disputes during the past week. One male was charged with assault with a weapon and mischief … one male was charged with overcoming resistance by choking and 2 counts of assault … and one male was charged with 2 counts of theft under $5,000 … unauthorized use of a credit card … driving while under suspension … breach of an undertaking … and breach of a recognizance. If you or someone you know is living in or involved in an abusive relationship … police want you to know that help is available. You can contact Bernadette McCann House 24/7 for support, advice or the safety of a shelter … at 1-800-267-4930. The Women’s Sexual Assault Centre of Renfrew County is also available 24/7 for information and support … at 1-800-663-3060. You could also attend the emergency department of any Renfrew County hospital and ask to speak to a member of the Assault Response Team. In emergencies you should call 9-1-1


the Renfrew County & District Health Unit free flu shot clinics continue across the Valley this week … with one set for today … and another for tomorrow. If you live in the Cobden area … you can get a flu shot today at the Whitewater Bromley Community Health Centre in Cobden … anytime from 3 to 6 p.m. Then … on Thursday … there’s a clinic in Pembroke at the Legion. That one runs from 2 to 6 p.m. Clinics will continue around the Valley throughout the month. Even though the Greater Ottawa Fastball League season is long over, the all-stars for the 2018 season have been announced. Local players on the league’s First Team include five members of the Quyon Flyers … led by pitcher Matt Greer … third baseman Steve McCord … outfielders Dave Hobbs and Dennis McCleary … and Designated Player Nick Armitage. Also on the first team are catcher Chris Costello … and first baseman Neil Murphy … both from West Carleton Electric … and shortstop Andrew McIntyre … from the Micksburg Twins. The Second Team had four members of West Carleton … including pitcher Andy Barber … second baseman Trevor Barton … shortstop Mike Cavanagh … and third baseman Shawn Rebertz. First baseman Marcus Rice … and outfielder Chris MacFarlane from Carp also made the Second Team … along with catcher Shawn Laframboise from Quyon … and outfielder Quinton Rook from Micksburg. The all-stars were chosen by the managers of all the league’s teams.
