Few details have been released following a two-vehicle collision yesterday afternoon on the highway just outside of Renfrew. OPP officers and emergency officials responded to the crash near Bruce Street and Highway 17 on Monday around 3 p.m. and Renfrew County Paramedics confirmed that three people were injured, with one being airlifted to hospital in Ottawa. The highway was closed for several hours. No names have been released at this point.

A Horton Township man is now facing charges  for assaulting his stepson. On November 14th Renfrew OPP officers began an investigation into the alleged assault on a 10-year-old boy, by his stepfather. As a result, a 33-year-old man has been charged with assault and two counts of uttering a threat. He was arrested and released on a promise to appear. He’ll be in court on December 19th. His identity is not being released in order to protect the identity of the boy.

Carleton Place council will have a new clerk in the New Year as long-time clerk Duncan Rogers is retiring at the end of 2018. As of January 1st … Stacey Blair will be appointed clerk. She is currently the town’s deputy clerk and before that, she was clerk administrator and deputy clerk/planning administrator in Lanark Highlands. She has also worked in the clerk’s department in Montague Township and Mississippi Mills. Blair has been working for the town of Carleton Place since August of 2017.

And on Thursday there’s a clinic from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Legion in Arnprior. The national Jr A rankings are in for this week and despite picking up three of a possible four points against the league’s top team last weekend, the Carleton Place Canadians have slid three spots. This week they sit at #14 in the country, down from #11. But their three points against Brockville has also caused the Braves to slip from the third spot … down to #6. And one other CCHL team continues to hold onto a place in the nation’s top-20, as Hawkesbury is now at #16, down two places from a week ago.
