With the long weekend on the horizon, area gas prices may be set to take another hike. Experts say that people could be paying up to four cents more at the pump in the days ahead as the peak driving season begins with the long weekend and runs until kids are out of school for the summer. As of this morning, gas prices around the Valley are fairly consistent with an average of just over $1.22 a litre in Arnprior a little more than $1.25 a litre in Renfrew and Pembroke sitting at about $1.29 a litre. In Ottawa the prices have taken a recent jump and you’re looking at as much as $1.37 a litre in the city. If you’re going to fill up it may be in your best interest to get to the pumps before the weekend.
