There is one more Renfrew County Council meeting before Christmas and it’s set for December 18th. That’s when we’ll find out who will be the Warden of the County for 2019.  Current Warden Jennifer Murphy, the Mayor of Bonnechere Valley and McNab-Braeside Mayor Tom Peckett have both been nominated for the Warden’s chair. A ballot vote by County Councillors will take place tomorrow.

Arnprior and Renfrew officers investigated two domestic disputes during the past week. One male was charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats and domestic mischief. No other criminal offences were alleged. With the final push on Christmas Shopping – now more than ever Police want to remind shoppers that their lock it or lose it campaign is in full swing and police officers along with auxiliary members will be examining parked vehicles in shopping malls and other public places – in an effort to prevent thefts from vehicles. An officer will place a small notice on the vehicle that has been checked to point out safety precautions that can be taken to reduce the threat of theft.  Police say that the best way to protect yourself is to place your valuable items out of sight or remove them altogether they also advise you to lock your vehicle and never leave it while running.  Be sure to take precautions to protect your vehicle and vehicle contents from theft. Locking it up is your safest bet.  Please do your part inmaking this year’s holiday season a safe and memorable experience.  To report a theft or suspicious activity near vehicles call 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers.

AND … this will be the final week of the season for the Quyon Ferry. According to the website …the ferry will continue to run between Fitzroy Harbour and Quyon for the restof this week … with the final day of the season set for Friday, December 21st.The ferry will continue to leave the dock every morning at 5:30 … and head back across the river every 10 minutes until either 10 … 11 p.m. … midnightd epending on the day. In the CCHL the Pembroke Lumber Kings have now extended their winning streak to five games …and they did it in convincing fashion with back-to-back wins over the league-leading Carleton Place Canadians on the weekend. The Lumber Kings beat the Canadians 6-3 in Carleton Place on Friday night … and then downed them 2-1 on Sunday night in Pembroke. Jacob McIntyre and Michael Douglas scored fo rPembroke last night … and Darian MacTavish stopped 26 shots … and earned the win. On Friday … Pembroke built a 3-0 lead and never looked back … with BrennanKitchen turning away 29 shots for the win. Connor Warnholtz led the Pembrokes attack with two goals and an assist … while Dylan Pudrycki also scoring a pair.Singles went to Brady Egan … and Jacob McIntyre.

AND … in the CCHL-2… the Renfrew Timberwolves won their lone game … a 7-4 decision over Westport. Andrew McIntyre led the way with a goal and five points  while Nick Cuddy and Luka Marinic each scored two goals. Ethan Lapenskie stopped 32 shots for the win. The Arnprior Packers split their weekend games … with a 6-4 win over Perth… and an 8-6 setback to Embrun. Newly acquired Adam Church had a hat-trick in the win … and a goal and two assists against Embrun. And … the Whitewater Kings lost their only game … falling 6-4 to Richmond. Artyom Shiman … Tommy Cahill …Alec Lindecker … and Quinn Vanhoof each had a goal and an assist for Whitewater.
