MOLASSES POUND CAKE

Cake:

1 ½ C butter, at room temperature

1 C white sugar

¾ C brown sugar

3 eggs, at room temperature

1 tbsp. vanilla

3 C flour

2 tsp. baking powder

¼ tsp. baking soda

¾ C milk

¼ C molasses

Glaze:

2 tbsp. melted butter

1 tbsp. molasses

2 tbsp. milk

1 C icing sugar

Cake:  Combine the flour, baking powder & soda and set aside.  Cream the butter & sugars together.  Beat in eggs, one at a time.  Beat in the vanilla.  Whisk together the milk and molasses.  Add the dry ingredients alternately with the milk/molasses to the creamed mixture.  Pour the batter into a greased bundt pan.  Bake at 350°F for about 1 hour.  Cool for about 10 minutes before removing from the pan.  Remove from pan and let cool completely.

Glaze: Combine the melted butter, molasses and icing sugar.  Beat in the milk.  Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake.
