Eganville’s Melissa Bishop has qualified for the semifinals of the women’s 800-metre event at the World Track and Field Championships in Beijing, China.
Earlier this morning, the 26-year-old won her heat and now advances to the semis, which will be run Thursday morning at just after 8 o’clock our time.
The Valley’s other athlete at the championships, Sultana Frizell of Perth, will not be moving on as the 30-year-old Canadian record holder came up 20 centimetres short of qualifying for the finals in the women’s hammer throw.
