
2 C chopped dates
2 C chopped apples
2 tsp. baking soda
2 C boiling water
1 C butter
2 C white sugar
2 eggs
3 tsp. vanilla
½ C orange juice
1 tsp. salt
3 C flour
Pour the boiling water over the dates, apples & baking soda and let cool at room temperature. Cream butter and sugar, add the eggs, vanilla, orange juice & salt. Stir in the flour and mix well. Pour the batter into two greased 9X5X3ʺ loaf pans and bake at 350°F for about 60 – 70 minutes.
