The man behind one of the most iconic Canadian television characters of all time, has passed away.
Don Harron, the man behind the personality of Charlie Farquharson, died Saturday morning at his home in Toronto.
Harron’s Charlie Farquharson character was a mainstay on CBC Television and he achieved international success as a key character on the American variety show Hee Haw for 18 seasons. But he was more than a comedic actor, he performed on Broadway and at Stratford, and was an accomplished writer and director, as well as a radio and television host, and author. He was a member of the Order of Canada.
Don Harron was 90 years of age.
