Football wins for Fellowes, ADHS

The high school football season kicked off yesterday and it was a memorable day for football fans in Pembroke as the Fellowes Falcons won their first season opener since the football program was resurrected in 2010.

The Senior Falcons downed the Mackenzie Mustangs 30-17 for their first win of the year, and only their second victory since 2010.

Elsewhere yesterday, the Arnprior Redmen opened with two wins. The Senior Redmen downed the RCI Raiders 26-7 and the ADHS juniors beat Carleton Place 28-8.

The Renfrew juniors opened their season with a 20-0 win over Perth.

Today’s games include a double-header in Almonte with the senior Thunderbolts hosting Perth at 1 o’clock, and the juniors hosting Notre Dame at 3. St. John from Perth also hosts two games with Smiths Falls in town.
