The Micksburg Twins have forced a fifth and deciding game in their Greater Ottawa Men’s Fastball League playoff series with the Kanata Pirates thanks to a big 4-0 win at home last night.
The Twins scored four times in the first inning and rode the arm of pitcher Cory Costello the rest of the way. Costello pitched a one-hitter, striking out 17.
The fifth and deciding game will be played tonight in Stittsville as part of the championship weekend tournament. First pitch is at 7 o’clock and the winner will face Kars at 9 p.m.
Games continue Saturday with the final set for 1 p.m. Carp and Quyon are also competing this weekend.
KOMEBACK FOR KARS
In Greater Ottawa Fastball League playoff action Wednesday night, the Kars Aces reeled off their third straight win against West Carleton Electric and won the series 3 games to 2.
After dropping the first two, the Aces, behind the pitching of Brad Porter, won the next three including a 3-2 win in Fitzroy Harbour in Game 5. Porter went the distance and picked up the win, while Kristian Knapp had the big night at the plate for Kars with a walk and two hits, and drove in the winning run in the seventh inning.
For West Carleton, pitcher Andy Barber took the loss, while at the plate Jeff Barber and Jon Daley each had two hits.
