The Ottawa Valley was under an Extreme Cold Warning for most of yesterday and into this morning.

With temperatures dipping to -35C to -40C overnight and into today with the wind chill, Environment Canada is asking that anyone who is outdoors to exercise extreme caution.

The warning is issued when frigid temperatures, or wind chill, elevates a risk to health such as frostbite and hypothermia.

The wind chills are supposed to improve by this afternoon, and the mercury will climb a bit, with things warming up more Saturday and Sunday’s high expected to his -3C.
