It’s the story of Joy Davidman, a struggling young writer in New York City, part of a group of other women writers. An atheist, Joy has an experience of God and becomes a Christian; she joins a church. She wants to grow in her Christian spirituality but doesn’t find the church helpful. The women talk about all kinds of life experiences; one day another writer shows her an article in the newspaper, by the British Christian writer, C.J. Lewis. She learns a lot from the article and writes to him with her questions about how to embody the Christian teachings. They write for three years.
C.S. Lewis was a famous professor at renowned Oxford University, England. He wrote many books and articles on Christian faith teachings. He also wrote for children, the Narnia books (later made into films).
