With warmer weather here, pet owners are encouraged to leave their pets at home.
Parked cars quickly reach deadly temperatures for animals that don’t have the same ability to deal with rising temperatures that humans can withstand.
While shopping, citizens who spot a dog or animal in a hot parked car are encouraged to report the licence plate and description of the vehicle to the store so an announcement can be made inside the store.
The OSPCA has also set up a hotline to report animals in hot cars. Call them at 310-SPCA or 310-7722 anywhere in Ontario.
If the animal appears to be in distress call the SPCA at 310-7722 or the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
