DILL PICKLES
Cucumbers
1 C white sugar
1 C coarse salt
1 qt. vinegar
3 qts. water
Garlic cloves
Dill
Alum
Pack firm, fresh and not too large cucumbers in jars. Place 2 cloves of garlic and 1/8 tsp. alum in each jar. Add the dill to the top and bottom. Bring the sugar, salt, vinegar & water to a boil and pour over the cucumbers. Seal the jars.
