

Cookie dough:
1 C white sugar
1 C butter
2 eggs
2 C flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cream of tartar
2 tsp. vanilla
Date filling:
½ lb. dates, chopped
½ C brown sugar
½ tsp. cornstarch
½ C cold water
Cookie dough: Mix in order given and chill the dough for a couple of hours. If the dough is still soft, add extra flour. Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface. Cut and placed on lightly greased cookie sheets and bake at 350°F until lightly browned. Put cookies together with date filling.
Date filling: combine the ingredients and cook over a medium heat until thickened.
