CRANBERRY SAUCE

4 C cranberries

1 C water

2 C white sugar

½ tsp. salt

¼ tsp. baking soda

Wash the cranberries and discard any soft ones.  Place them in a heavy saucepan and add the remaining ingredients.  Cover with a tight-fitting lid.  Cook, very gently, for 15 minutes after you hear the first cranberry pop.  Remove from stove and let sit for 24 hours (do not lift the lid).
