The County of Renfrew has approved a 2% budget hike for this year, and that means a jump in taxes of just under $15 this year for someone with a residential property assessed at $200,000.

Warden Peter Emon and Walter Stack, chair of the county’s finance and administration committee, were both happy with the cooperation of staff and the new council to keeping the tax increase at 2%, while still maintaining service levels and investing in infrastructure.

The 2015 budget will lay the foundation to roll out the County’s Long Term Financial Plan, which will provide direction as to how the County’s Asset Management Plan will be financed over the next 10 years.

The 2% tax increase is expected to be adopted at the January 28th county council meeting.
