A Carp man is in critical condition after both of his arms were amputated by a piece of farming equipment Wednesday morning.
It happened just after 8 a.m. on William Mooney Road in Carp.
Paramedics say 69-year-old Ken Paul was working on machinery when a piece of his clothing became caught in the tractor’s power takeoff shaft.
Ottawa firefighters arrived to find Paul with one arm amputated above the shoulder and the other severed at the elbow.
According to CTV News, Ken Paul and his son Bruce run the 700-acre farm, called Appaulo Farms, as a partnership, raising primarily pure-bred Holsteins. It has been in the family for 5 generations.
