The Carleton Place Canadians have repeated as Bogart Cup champions, in fact, it’s a three-peat.
The Canadians clinched their third straight CCHL title with a tight 3-2 win over the Ottawa Jr Senators in the seventh and deciding game of the finals. Carleton Place took a 3-2 series lead heading into the weekend, but the Jr Senators simply dominated Game 6 on Saturday posting a lopsided 7-0 win to force a seventh game.
On Sunday afternoon in Carleton Place, the Canadians led 2-1 after one period with Marcus Joseph and Will LeNeave finding the net and Jordan Larson made it 3-1 in the second period.
Ottawa cut the lead to one with just over six minutes to play as they went on the power play and pulled their goalie early for an extra attacker. And it paid off, but it would be as close as they would get as the Canadians held on for the 3-2 win. Goalie Colton Point returned to form stopping 28 shots for the win after getting beat five times on Saturday.
Carleton Place will now represent the CCHL at the Fred Page Cup in New Brunswick from May 4th to 8th.
