Cake:
2/3 C butter
1 C white sugar
1 tsp. almond extract
1 egg
1 ½ C flour
½ tsp. baking powder
Topping:
1 egg
1 tbsp. milk
Sliced almonds
Cake: cream the butter and sugar and add the almond extract. Blend in the egg. Stir in the flour and baking powder. Stir until smooth. Spread the batter in a greased 8ʺ pan.
Topping: beat the egg and milk together. Brush over the batter. Top with almonds.
Bake at 350°F for about 30 minutes.
