In Pembroke Sunday night, more than 1,400 people turned out at the Pembroke Memorial Centre for Bryan Murray Night to honour the former Lumber Kings head coach, who is now the General Manager of the Ottawa Senators.
The night was dedicated to raise awareness of colon cancer as the Shawville native is currently battling the disease.
More than $2,500 was raised at the PMC for the Ottawa Integrated Cancer Centre in Murray’s name.
Murray was unable to attend, but a plaque to honour him was presented to his sisters Darleen Murphy and Lorraine Hodgins, and his great-nephew Justin Murray.
A plaque will also hang on the Wall of Fame at the PMC highlighting his contributions to the team throughout the years.
