With hours to go before the nomination deadline, Admaston Bromley Mayor Raye-Anne Briscoe filed her papers and is seeking re-election in next month’s municipal election. Briscoe, the township’s mayor since 2000, is one of three people running for the position as she joins Councillor Michael Donohue and Jack Kelly.

There will be a race for mayor in Bonnechere Valley as Kip Smith filed his papers Thursday afternoon and will challenge incumbent Jennifer Murphy for the mayor’s chair. Smith also ran for mayor in the 2010 election.

In Whitewater Region, Doug Shields filed his papers to run for mayor Thursday, making it a four-person race. Shields joins incumbent Jim Labow, current councillor Joey Trimm, and Hal Johnson.

The deadline to file nomination papers has now passed. Election day is October 27th.
