Officials say that blue-green algae has been discovered in Lake Dore.
The Renfrew County and District Health Unit has since been advised, as some species of the algae have the ability to produce toxins which could be harmful to people and animals.
Officials say if you’re using Lake Dore, be on the lookout for these algae blooms. Suggestions include avoiding direct contact with the blooms, and, if possible, avoid using that water when it comes to drinking, bathing, or showering.
The Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change, and the Renfrew County and District Health Unit, will continue to monitor the water conditions in Lake Dore.
