Police have received several calls from the public about another possible scam making the rounds.
Residents report receiving calls from a man calling himself ‘Officer Michael Thompson’ or ‘Officer James Morrison’. A police service name was not included.
During the conversation, the man threatens that they will be arrested if they don’t pay money that is owed. The OPP says that no police service conducts business like this, and will not contact residents demanding money.
If you receive calls similar to this do not give any personal information, including bank or credit card information.
Anyone with information about this is asked to contact Crime stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or the OPP.
