Police have issued a warning to all those using the Ottawa River near the Inter Provincial Bridge in Pembroke.

Currently the bridge is under construction, and a causeway covering just over half the channel between Cotnam Island and Morrison Island has been erected, leaving only a portion of the river open.  This open portion contains very fast moving water and would be very dangerous to navigate.

The public is urged to avoid this part of the Ottawa River.

Prior to going out boating, everyone should know basic boating safety, what the laws are, what equipment you require, how to share waterways, and what to do in an emergency.
