BARMBRACK BREAD

1 C cold tea
1 C raisins
1/2 C peel
1/2 C currents
1 C white sugar
1 egg
1/4 C melted butter
2 C flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt

Combine the tea, raisins, peel, currents and sugar and cover and let stand overnight.  In the morning, beat the egg until frothy.  Stir into the fruit mixture.  Stir in melted butter.  Combine the dry ingredients and add to the fruit batter.  Stir until blended.  Spread the batter in a greased 9 X 5 X 3″ loaf pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for about 60 – 70 minutes.  Cool for about 10 minutes and turn out onto a rack to cool.  Slice and serve with butter.
