AFTERNOON TEA CAKES

½ C white sugar

1 ½ C flour

2 tsp. baking powder

½ tsp. salt

½ C butter

½ C raisins

2 tbsp. or a little more milk

1 egg, well beaten

Combine the dry ingredients and work in the butter.  Add the raisins.  Beat the milk with the egg.  Add the milk mixture to the dry ingredients and mix lightly to form a dough.  Drop by large spoonfuls onto a parchment lined cookie sheet.  Bake at 375°F for 12 – 15 minutes until lightly browned.
